Privacy & terms
Last updated 25 October 2026.
Redoubt Wire keeps the email address you provide and the list of who you follow, and uses them only to send you the email. There are no ads and nothing is sold or shared. Ask and it is deleted.
Who runs this
The Redoubt Wire development team, as an independent project. It is not an official West Point, USMA, or Army service, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Army West Point Athletics, USMA, or the U.S. Army. Contact: hello@redoubtwire.com.
What is collected
- The email address you provide.
- The athletes and teams you choose to follow, including any names you type into the sign-up form.
- When you signed up or last changed your choices, and whether you confirmed your email address.
- A record of the emails sent to you and which stories they included, so nobody is sent the same story twice and failed deliveries can be retried.
- Anything you write to the team via email.
What your information is used for
Only to confirm your email address and to send you the email when a story mentions someone you follow. It is not used for anything else, and it is not used to contact you about anything else. You may receive notice from the Redoubt Wire team of big changes/exciting announcements but these are expected to be few and far between.
Who can see your information
Only the Redoubt Wire development team. The services listed below handle the data for the team, as described.
Where it is kept
Your details are handled by the services that run Redoubt Wire: Google for the sign-up form and sheet, and Cloudflare for sending email, forwarding replies, and this website. Their own policies apply to what they keep.
What is sent to the AI
The summaries are written by a commercial LLM. The Army West Point Athletics stories and the names of athletes people follow are incorporated into the prompt. Email addresses, your name, and who follows whom are never sent. The athlete names go in as one combined list for all users, with nothing saying who asked for them.
What is not done
- No ads, and nothing is sold, rented or given to anyone.
- Nobody is signed up without confirming their own address (make sure you check spam for your initial confirmation email!).
How long it is kept, and deleting it
To stop, reply to any email or write to hello@redoubtwire.com, or choose “Stop all emails” on the sign-up form. The emails stop. Your sign-up details stay in the sign-up sheet until you ask for them to be deleted, and then the team deletes them as soon as it can.
The previously mentioned services keep their own copies on their own schedules. Usage and cost records are filed under an internal ID number, not your address. The project also keeps running totals with no names or addresses (how many people were emailed, how many emails and stories were sent, what it cost) to see how it is growing.
Direct correspondence to and from the Redoubt Wire team may be kept indefinitely.
Terms of use
- Our mission: Help communities notice and celebrate their people. Please keep that in mind while using the service.
- Free, as is. Redoubt Wire costs nothing and comes with no promise that emails will arrive, arrive on time, or catch every mention. Don't rely on it for anything that matters.
- It can change or stop. The team may change it, pause it or shut it down at any time, without notice.
- Summaries are AI-written and can be wrong, including mixing up two people with the same name. The linked story is the source. If you see a mistake, reply to the email and our team will look into it.
- The stories belong to Army West Point Athletics. Each email gives a short summary and a link to the original. Read the full story on goarmywestpoint.com.
- Sign up only yourself, with your own westpoint.edu address. If you enjoy it please share it with your friends but don't sign up other people... that's weird.
- Forwarding is fine. We'd love if you find it compelling enough to share. A colleague who gets a forwarded email can sign up at redoubtwire.com.
- Don't use the service to harass anyone or to track anyone's personal life. It only follows published, public news, nothing more.
